Do You Want Your Gift Used As You Wish?
Our commitment: IHC asks only for
what we need. We apply gifts only for the purposes we ask. We use gifts only as a donor wishes.
We invited donors to share why they give to IHC. Here is what a few of them had to say…
Mary McDonald Mascott, IHA ’62 and Ted Mascott
Using a portion of our IRAs, we have arranged for an endowment to be established upon our death at the Northern New York Community Foundation. This endowment will provide tuition support annually to IHC students in need. We hope this type of giving will help perpetuate the outstanding catholic education provided by IHC.
Pat Duegaw, IHA ’62
I chose to name Immaculate Heart a beneficiary of my trust because it’s an opportunity for me to pay back and pay forward at the same time, and for a foundation gained I never understood until later in life. My hope is my gift will help at least one person, as IHA helped me.
Greg Hare, IHC ’84
I am honored to support IHC in its on-going mission to provide a Catholic-centered education for the students of Watertown and the surrounding area. The education I received, the life-lessons I learned, and the friends I made at IHC, all have guided me throughout my life. I am confident that today’s students will enjoy those same life-shaping rewards.
Betty Coughlin, IHA ’49
Because Immaculate Heart Academy taught me a way of life and the Sisters were the guides.
Jim Coughlin, IHA ’49
The Sisters of St. Joseph have been a central part of our lives – always there to help us, guide us, support us. My brother and I lived in the convent for weeks at a time when my mother died. The Principal of IHA, Sr. Theresina, was like a second mother — she knew me, and knew when I needed a hug on a bad day. Our oldest daughter, Alice, in whose memory we created a memorial scholarship, really loved her years at IHC.
I was able to attend Immaculate Heart Academy through the generosity of an anonymous benefactor who paid 3/4 of my tuition. I would like to do the same over the coming years. I believe in IHC’s saying that IHC provides students “a foundation for life.” My experience at IHA was solid; good enough for me to earn an appointment to the US Air Force Academy, where I received an outstanding education. Moreover, the moral and ethical foundations that were emphasized at IHA (and by my family) make it easier for me to meet the strict honor code requirements of the Air Force Academy. I, too, am dedicated to helping IHC to bring the same quality education and moral/ethical standards that I experienced to your students today.
